Lions Of Africa is

A group made up of some of the most talented and expertly trained Senegalese artists of the present day. Through the magic of their captivating performances, they invite you to experience ancient African traditions, colourful folklore and vibrant culture.
You will be transported by their unique blend of high energy dance, acrobatics and infectious rhythms.

Simb : A Contemporary Ode to Senegalese Magic and Oral Tradition

Their show is built around the ancient Senegalese tradition known as Simb; a magical ritual passed down through the generations by the society’s keepers of oral tradition – the Griots.
This enchanting ritual has been reinterpreted by Laye Ananas, the director and founder of the company, and his fellow artists.

The story of the Simb is about a man attacked by a lion, but instead of dying, he wakes up without a scratch with the lion dead beside him…

Lion’s Fusion : Artistry in Taming Supernatural Rage

After some time, it becomes clear that the man transforms into a creature that is part human and part lion when he is enraged; the Griots need to use all their skills as artists to tame him and keep the aggression under control.

The performance is guranteed to be a fascinating and wonderfully uplifting experience for all.

Cultural Envoys

Not many groups can boast that they are official ambassadors of culture for their country in the way that Lions of Africa can for Senegal.
Lions of Africa supported the former president of Senegal during his election campaigns, after which the Senegalese gave them official responsibility for welcoming and performing for all dignitaries arriving in Senegal.

20 Years of Harmony

Since its foundation in 1999, the company has toured all over Europe and West-Africa; featuring in some
of the world’s most prominent festivals and musical events.
