Forde Festival, Norway & Oase Festival, Nijmegen
We have just finished Forde Festival in Norway which was a great success. But not without problems along the way which we faced in Lisbon, Portugal Immigration Police. Our group arrived from Dakar on 3 July, with passports and all documents in order. But the Immigration did not care and they kept the group there imprisoned without food or drink or a sleeping place. They made us loose our flight to Norway and had to buy another set of tickets. The Forde Festival helped a lot to pay extra euros for the transportation. They also paid us to come by bus from Norway to Amsterdam. Without Hilde Bjorkum from the Forde Festival we would not have made it to this festival. We cannot thank her enough. The Lions of Africa are highly talented professional people who deserve to be treated like Stars or Royalty.
We would like to thank the organizers, technicians, assistants, fans and everyone involved with the festival as they all were so helpful and friendly and made us feel so welcome and so appreciative by their responses towards us. We all had a lot of fun there.
The comments and reaction from the crowd was amazing. What a fantastic performance, the audience were so excited as the Lions of Africa came out with such colourful costumes. Then the drums started and the whole crowd was overwhelmed by the strong powerful emotions that were coming from the Lions of Africa. The crowd was dancing, singing, laughing and screaming for the Lions. They could feel the emotional and spiritual feeling coming from the Lions. When the big lions came out all the children were screaming with fright then laughing at their humour, their little faces said a thousand words, they were looking up at them as Super Heroes. Even on the way home people were approaching us and congratulating us on our amazing show.
We are so happy to be in Europe touring and showing the world our tradition from Dakar, Senegal.
